User Interface

  • The speed of reading MDL and CAD files has been improved.
  • When a program is open additional file types can be opened by drag & drop (.act, .nom, .aat, .des, .apt, .chr).  This is in addition to the previously supported CAD file types.
  • The Graphics Options dialog now supports customization of vector dimensions and anti-aliasing (smoothing).  The CAD View settings have also been organized into a new dialog tab.
  • Visualization of group items in the Display Options dialog has been improved when Nominals, Actuals, CAD, or Probe are turned off or on.
  • The new Select Sensor dialog has additional quality-of-life improvements.
  • The Graphics window is more responsive when there are many touch points or large point clouds.
  • The option to Display Collision Zones has been added to the Probe ribbon menu.  This was previously a setting in the System Configuration dialog.
  • The Curve Scan Dialog can be opened directly from the ribbon menu while in MES-CAD mode.  The OnCurve method is used by default for analog and laser probes. This bypasses the small window with 4 buttons.
  • Opening a program from the File ribbon menu now uses a dialog to browse for the program’s .bdm file.  A similar ability has been added to the Quick Menu.
  • The Calibration commands have been grouped in the Probe ribbon menu.
  • The Confetti Settings ribbon menu button has been moved from the Graphics tab to the Report tab.
  • Improved user experience for the Measure Curve dialog.
  • Improved detection of invalid characters in the Database Connection dialogs.
  • CAPPS-DMIS: Improved user experience for the manual Measure dialogs.

DMIS & Program Window

  • Temperature compensation now fully supports Fahrenheit.  The temperature unit is recorded into DMIS.
  • New commands have been added for nominal curves and surfaces that allow access to the location and normal vector of a specific touch-point.  This was previously only possible for actual curves and surfaces.
  • A new command was added to run an external script file and wait for completion.
  • CAPPS-NC: The Recall Alignment dialog allows editing work offset alignments, making offline programming easier.

Reporting

  • Image Resolution has been added to the Print Settings dialog to allow the quality (and size) of images created for reports to be increased.  These high-definition images look better when zooming in to a report saved to PDF, for example.
  • Added support for two more GD&T Datum scenarios: {plane, perpendicular cylinder, plane} and {plane, perpendicular cylinder, point-reducible feature}.
  • All types of Distance templates now have their connection lines drawn parallel to the two features, instead of only in the screen’s X and Y axis.
  • The Form & Profile dialog has a new Use Bestfitting option to control calculating profiles of patterns, curves, and surfaces. This change provides the flexibility to disable the best fit when it is not needed.
  • Circular and Total Runout are now available for Cones.
  • The location that Composite True Position is reported at can be customized.

Feature Construction

  • The Construct Curve dialog has a new Digitize action.  This includes the generation and execution of new CAPPS/DIGITCURVE DMIS commands.
  • Curves can be constructed by intersecting a plane with a surface.
  • Planes can be constructed from two lines (using their endpoints) or one point and one line.
  • A circle can be constructed by intersecting a cylinder and a sphere.

Machine Interfaces

  • CAPPS-NC: A new Tool Settings popup was added to the Probe Builder.
    • This groups the CNC-specific settings together.
    • Can specify the NC Filename.
    • Can specify if running from the tool bottom or center.
  • CAPPS-NC: Added support for Mitsubishi controllers.
  • CAPPS-NC: Added large program support for Fidia controllers.
  • CAPPS-NC: FOCAS Data I/O dialog now:
    • Allows multiple files to be sent to the controller together.
    • Remembers the last used programs folder.

Laser & Point Clouds

  • The Probe Builder now allows rotating laser models.  This requires the latest probe database.
  • Improved accuracy of the laser calibration.  Now scanning is done in one direction instead of going back and forth.
  • Extracting spheres from point clouds now supports using filters.
  • Improved the accuracy of Angle and Edge points extracted from point clouds.

Simulation

  • Table rotation measurement has been enabled for 5-axis tables, indexable probe heads, and when optimum probe selection is active.

Probe Calibration

  • Blum probes are now supported.
  • Renishaw probe modules OM/RMP40/60 are now fully supported. These probes support stacking many modules.
